Dear Sunny,
We enjoyed the Kashgar old town and Sunday Market most. Our main tour guide, Aliya, was amazing. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and made sure we got to try lots of different Xinjiang food. She was very knowledgeable of all the sites, and overall was just a pleaure to spend time with. When I got sick, she made sure to take good care of me. The food was good, we enjoyed the lunch we had in Turpan most. Some of the hotels (particularly the 2 stars) in the smaller towns were not very nice, but I think that was the only option, so that's ok. I would, and would definitely recommend Aliya as a guide. I would recommend they take a trip with less driving, our tour had way too much of that. Maybe skip the smaller towns, and focus on Urumuqi, Turpan, Hotan and Kashgar. We got very sick of driving so much. But be sure to time your trip to Kashgar to include the Sunday markets.

The terraced villages outside of Guilin and the Terra cotta warriors are the most memorable attractions. We loved all 3 of our tour guides. April was kind, generous, and friendly. Lily was very outgoing with a great sense of humor. Lemon was resourceful and very intelligent. All 3 had an excellent command of the language and were able to tell us a great deal of the history and of current events in their city as well as in China as a whole. We liked all the hotels. We already have recommended you.The terraced villages outside of Guilin was fantastic. We wish that we had had more time to go into the countryside surrounding Yangshuo. We loved riding bikes on the city wall at Xi'an.

Dear Karen and Ethel,
Thank you very much for all. The hotel (DAYS INN BEIJING) was very good and the other services too. I'm very happy to have choose Chinahighlights for booking the hotel and my tours to Xian, Datong and Chengde. All has been perfect and on time. I hope to return to China and visit other cities and if so, I will come back to Chinahighlights. I will talk well about Chinahighlights in my travel forum http://fotoviaggiando.forumfree.net/ .
Thank you very much for your interest and for having organized us the travel as we liked it. All has been perfect and we are very happy. We have not finished our travel story. You can find it at this link on my travel forum: http://fotoviaggiando.forumfree.net/?t=29252339 but is not finished (I hope to finish within the week). In future we will add the photogalleries of our travel in China in our travel site ( http://www.fotoviaggiando.altervista.org/home.html ) If you are interested in, I will write you the link when finished (but it takes about two months).
Kind regards
Walter, Sonia and Lorenzo Bauzon
Hello Angela,
Thank you for all the arrengements you made for our tour in China, it all went very well but for one place. All the hotels were very good - both in their quality as well for location. The only exeption was the hotel in Guilin, it was definately not of the same category as the other hotels. A resort hotel, built in more then one level should have an elevator - this one does not have and the rooms are far from the category of the other hotels we stayed in during the rest of the tour.
All the best
Pablo Komorowsky.
Hello Angela,
I made a big mistake in my resent mail. The hotel in Guilin was perfect, the problem was with the Paradesa Resort hotel in Yangshou. As I mention in earlier mails, I am a tour guide and tour leader with many years in the business,so I can realy compare and apriciate performance - and yours was exelent, so thank you again.

Elaine,
Your company was the first company I have ever used that offered travel packages that cater to small groups and in my case for ONE person and I can not tell you how GREAT that was for me. I've been traveling around the world on my own lately but I was afraid to tackle China by myself and if I had not seen your website I still may not have made it to China. You really put together the BEST iterneray for me to see the most of China in two weeks. ALL the travel arrangements, flights, hotels, meals, etc. were GREAT. (and the fact that - I - didn't have to make the arrangements myself was a major plus) I could not have asked for anything else. ALL your travel guides were Intelligent, Professional, and knowledgable and believe me when I say they define : Customer Service !!!! And I have to tell you Elaine, I was soooooooo thankful that you assigned Jeff to be the FIRST person I met in China - After over a 15hr+ flying time and being axious about coming to a new country, new culture, and new language - to be greeted at the airport by a big smile and lots of energy & personality was the perfect way to kick-start my whole trip. His unique ability to put people at ease within minutes of meeting is an invaluable asset to the travel business. He made it his goal to see that I had everything I needed to make my vacation the best it could be and he armed me with information that I would need as I traveled thru China. As we toured Beijing over the next few days, I was so impressed with is wide range of knowledge and attention to details when explaining not only China & it's history - but also his knowledge of the USA and more importantly our ways as Americans - He made every day fun and interesting !!! (if you have any other American's or USA groups coming to China and making Beijing their first stop, you really need to assign Jeff to them). All of which makes him not only a GREAT respresentative for China Highlights but also of CHINA . Of course holding the baby Panda was one of my main reasons for coming to China -so you know how happy I was that the Chengdu portion of this trip was not cancelled - and I have to tell you Michelle really made my time in Chengdu so much fun and interesting - she went out - RAIN and all - just to make sure I didn't miss the Panda's ! (smiley-face) One of my most favorite places was Guilin & the terraces at Yangshuo and Tracey's warmth & passion for and knowledge of this area just added to the whole experience. Elaine, I'm am interested in coming back to China (after the Olympics) - so please keep me posted on conditions in Tibet, ok - Oh, before I forget, you need to tell the WORLD that EVERYTHING is OK in Chengdu - that this area was NOT demolished by the earthquake - every place I went, people kept asking me when they heard me mention the Panda's - People are not booking and are cancelling Chengdu for the wrong reasons. Thank You again for putting together a 'trip of a life time' !!!!

Dear Eva,
The children most enjoyed the Great Wall, however, we all really enjoyed everything! I especially enjoyed the small side trips like the Cloisonné Factory, the Calligraphy Art school, the authentic pearl shop because then you knew what you bought there was authentic. The trip to the Dragon Terraced fields with the Yao and Zhuang ethnic tribes was very beautiful and really educational. Oren liked the Li River cruise. All 3 were very good, were personable, very knowledgeable, and helpful. The kids warmed up to the first guide we had a bit quicker and she talked with us more on a personal level asking us questions too like she was genuinely interested in us and our trip. All the hotels were very nice and in a great location. We liked the Guilin Bravo Hotel the best! Perfect location for walking to see the many attractions downtown and a fabulous view! I love how organized everything was and even the kids liked the shows. The boat ride down the LI River was amazing!

Dear Karen,
The most memorable attraction we visited was the Great Wall. The most outstanding tour guide was the lady in Beijing, extremely friendly and helpful, a lovely lady. They were all good, I enjoyed Harbour Plaza in HK best.
Claire
Dear Vee,
I'd have to say the Great Wall was the most amazing site we visited, but the Hutong tour was a close second. Emily was great, she had a lot of great information and provided the perfect amount of history and context while walking around. The Sunworld Hotel was great, the central location was perfect. The meals were good however a little more “touristy” than we would have liked. Yes, while I’m not usually the type of person to take a planned tour I did enjoy the ease and comfort that your company provided.
There is always a balance I feel that should be maintained between being a tourist (seeing all of the standard historical sites) and “living like the locals” (eating in local restaurants and experiencing local neighborhoods), I feel the experience was slightly geared towards a touristy experience, which most people would probably prefer. Traveling to China is the largest and most diverse culture experience I have ever had, truly a wonder and something I would recommend that everyone experience with an open mind. Embracing cultural differences with an open mind is the only way to travel.

Candy:
I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had on our trip. You did an excellent job of helping Lew Caliento and I put it together. I still cannot believe we have been there and back, and I continue to marvel at the wonderful experience we had. I will surely recommend you and your company to anyone I know who is interested in travel to China. Thank you for the lovely gifts. We really appreciate your efforts and expertise. Carol
Dear Elaine,
Thank you very much for setting up such a memorable trip for us. We managed to cover 6 cities in 15 days and everything went like clock work. The drivers/guides always picked us on time and all the internal flights departed at scheduled time and we never lost any luggage. This is much better that what we get in USA. The only disappiontment was not visiting Lhasa. But guillin was a great substitute. Hopefully we get to go to Tibet after the olympics. Please keep me up-todate as to when Tibet opens up for foreign visits. I also would have enjoyed visiting you and your company in guillin. But we were there on the weekend. I have answered your questions below. All the guides were professional and fun to be with. Some spoke better english than others, but communication was never a problem. I think our guide in Kumming stands out, even though we only spent half a day there. The reason is that he spoke almost perfect english and he shared a lot of his personnal and family experiences with us. Which is after all part of the reason we're travelling all over the world. Our guide in Guillin was also very accomodating. He was pretty young, but very energetic...
Take care, Farhad
