We are committed to giving our customers an authentic China experience not just something staged for tourists. Read feedback written by our customers about their experiences in China after they have returned home. These include the ratings and comments on attractions, guides, activities, hotels and food. Would you like to look at the tours that 1340 previous customer have recommended?
Dear Sunny,
I know it took me a very long time to finally give you a feedback. That's just because we were extremely busy at work during the last month and spend the weekend either abroad or with friends and family. Therefore we didn't have enough time to sort out all our more than 2000 pictures and write emails.
First of all I must say I enjoyed it very much talking to you personally when we were in Xining. We had a fantastic trip and you really got the feeling what we like and enjoy. We must admit we were very lucky that we had to shorten our Tibet trip one day. It was good we didn't have to spend the night in Gyantse. It would have been a mistake. We also appreciated very much to get native guides e.g. a Tibetan in Tibet and Shangri La and a Bai Girl in Dali.
Now a few words to the guides and destinations. I guess in the meantime you certainly got all our comments we made about the trip, service, guide etc.
In Chengdu we were very happy with Java. She is real professional with an excellent knowledge and attitude to her work. Her English is fantastic and she is very helpful. She even brought us paper cups and instant coffee for the train journey to Lhasa. We would have loved to have her as our guide during the whole trip. When we gave her the filled in questionnaire she even helped to seal it. I'm sure she wouldn't fail with even the most demanding guest and one can really feel that she loves her job and gives her best.
The other guide who was also outstanding was Droma in Shangri La. We spent a great time together. Also Droma was very professional with an excellent knowledge of the subjects and very helpful with a great attitude to her job. As she comes from the countryside we learnt so much about the life of these people and the life in the countryside. She has a very good sense of humour (we had a lot of fun together) and is a fantastic mate for hiking. She was really flexible, because we had lunch in the plane from Lhasa to Shangri La she changed our Chinese lunch to dinner. Also Droma gave us the questionnaire together with an envelope and helped to seal it.
Sally in Dali was a real darling. Even she is still very young, she is a real professional and extremely thoughtful of everything. Because the AC was not working in our room, Sally organised a fan and was waiting till we got it in our room and made sure it is was working. She was wonderful how she took care of us and everything. From her he learned a lot about Bai people and their living.
We really grow fond of these three girls - they were absolutely great guides and can be recommended very much.
There was quite a difference from ladies to male guides. Ladies are a little bit like mothers and think about everything one would need.
In Huanglong it wouldn't have been necessary to have a guide, at least for us as very experienced travellers. We just needed a transport to the cable car and back to the hotel. As Harley usually walked about a hundred meters in front of us without any explanations to the area we could have easily been on our own. He was very polite but sometimes really hard to understand. For the evening he recommended the great Tibetan Show (a kind of musical about an old pilgrim lady). That was absolutely worth to see it. We appreciated that very much.
Jiuzhaigou National Park is a wonderful place for hiking in great nature.
For us as nature lovers it was a great experience. Actually we just did as the Chinese did, visited all these beautiful waterfalls and lakes and had a noodlesoup for lunch!
Andy in Xining had an excellent command of English and could really good explain about the monastery and the different customs. The lunch we had in Xining was outstanding (we still talk about it!). At 6 pm he brought us to the railway station and left.
Puntsok the guide we had in Tibet was very nice and had an enormous knowledge. It was a pleasure having him as a guide. He also gave us very good hints for restaurants in the evening. We also gave us enough time to watch the pilgrims on Barkor Street - that's absolutely unique for us. We got quite a good impression of Lhasa and the part of Tibet we visited. As I said at the beginning it would have been a mistake to stay overnight in Gyantse.
In Kunming with Tony we had a fantastic guide. He's English is outstanding.
We had very interesting conversation about modern China. We enjoyed his company very much and really can recommend him. He is a very experienced guide, great professional.
We still talk a lot about our wonderful vacation in China and recommend your service to all our friends. We are so lucky that you found China Highlight Travel in the Internet. Attached please find a couple of pictures of our trip.
I hope I could do you a favour with my comments and please don't hesitate to send me an email if you need more details or information, if we could help you with specific behaviour of European or American tourists. We also realised that European tourists are sometimes quite different from Chinese tourists and don't have the same taste. I wish you a great season and a lot of nice tourists.
With my warmest regards
Daniela
Hello Grace!
We have just returned from our tour of the Orient - what a lovely experience! And thanks to China Highlights!
We enjoyed our time with your tour guides and now call them 'friends'! We thoroughly enjoyed all our sites in China - we are thrilled with your services and will absolutely recommend your company to anyone we know that will be heading your way!
We also thank YOU for all your good services for our family - you have been a very good consultant and we appreciate all that YOU have done for us through China Highlights!
We hope that we will have the pleasure of meeting you and your colleagues again if not in China, perhaps we can help you come to know the USA and be able to host you on a vacation here in Denver - we would be most happy to do so!
Thank you again for all you have done to make our vacation and time in China - memorable!
Sincerely,
Paul, Jonathan and Jeanne
Dear Michael
Thank you for the information about Jonathan. Overall you and your company did an outstanding job. We have told all our friends that going with China Highlights is the way to see China.
We were shown many things and given much historical background which allowed us to appreciate the sites we visited. All the guides were excellent and did a tremendous job. Your guide book was really helpful in getting us prepared for our trip. Your 'can do anything attitude' and quick response to any question was very helpful.
The packing list, customs, language, food, travel insurance, phone, what to purchase at the different cities, city discriptions were all very helpful. My wife came back wanting to take another trip to China. We certainly think we got full value for our money. If the price of the airplane tickets to China were cheaper, I am sure you would have more people visit your wonderful country.
Having a dedicated driver and guide is definitely the way to see your country. The only comment I made was that it would have been nice to be able to mail things as we purchased them. Many places did not ship items and domestic flights in China limit how much you can carry on and check in for your luggage. Also the Panda phone worked everywhere except Hong Kong. This information should also be filed with your company since I filled out a form that was attached to one of your emails.
Thank you for a wonderful trip. If we ever take another trip to China, and we would like to see more of it, your company is the only way to go. Thank you for all of your help. In regards to the specific questions you have. We were able to get the kind of pearls she wanted in Hong Kong.
Everything that had to do with your history that we saw in Beijing and Xian were very impressive. And all the historical places should be the wow factors!
All of our tour guides were great. Jonathan in Beijing was the best. His experience shows. He anticipated what we wanted to do. He was helpful in everyway and appeared to go out of his way to ensure that what ever we did would be enjoyable. Cindy and Oscar were also very good but Jonathan was tops.
We enjoyed all the meals. Each had its own attraction. We also appreciated the recommendation by Jonathan reference the place to get Peking Duck and Cindy were to have dumplings in Xian. In regards to the Peking Duck experience, which was a dinner meal and not included in the tour--Jonathan drove us to and fro from the restraunt and got us seated ahead of a lot of people and ordered for us and just made the experience wonderful.
All the places we saw are must see places. We enjoyed both bike rides, the river ride and meeting the two families. 7. As long as there are not a lot of requests to discuss the trip, we don't mind answering questions and wee would like to stay on your mailing list.
Sincerely
Gary and Judy
Dear Eva,
I would like to start off by thank YOU sincerely for a wonderful experience. I was SO impressed with your reception, professionalism, and fast efficient service. Thank YOU so much !!! !
The Terracotta Soldiers were the best, but EVERYTHING was just great !
The tour guide Ying was just FANTASTIC. She is so proud and knowledgeable about her wonderful country, not only from the history, but also the culture, politics and general knowledge. She went OUT OF HER WAY to please us, and she succeeded very well !!
I will certainly recommend China Highlights to my families and friends.
Kind regards
Tyrone
Dear Jean,
We really enjoyed visiting the Great Wall. The Terracotta Warriors Museum was amazing. We had a great time on the Yangtze River cruise. The Forbidden City and Summer Palace were also awesome.
All our tour guides were exceptional. Romy in Chongqin (we enjoyed a new dish called 'hot pot' which was delicious). Helen in Yichang (very nice and personable). Eric in Xian (very knowledgable and prompt). Jay in Beijing (very attentive, nice and friendly). We would definitely reccomend your company. We had a great experience in China. We felt we saw all the major attractions. We felt the restaurants chosen had a very good variety of food and the taste was wonderful.
Please keep my name on your mailing list so that we can receive your news letter since we plan to visit China again in the future.

Dear Grace
Thank you for your kind words, and concern over my bad experience with the hotel food the first evening.
You do not have to worry about the level of service your company provided to me during my stay in Beijing. I have already been telling friends, family and colleagues that if they ever visit China then they must do it through your company.
My guide Woo was an extremely nice young man and I could not fault him in any way for the professional and kind way he treated me on my various visits. Please give him my kind regards.
I have already put your company details on my Facebook so all my friends, family and colleagues can go straight to your website and view your company if they wish to visit China.
Once again thank you for a wonderful experience on my visit to Beijing.
Margaret
Thank you so much for the greetings, the cake and the Shangrila on my birthday. It really made it one of my memorable birthdays. I did not have Internet access most of the trip and could not write to you. I also realized that you were not in Beijing but in Guilin only after I left Guilin. I would have loved to come and see you (*Candy was not at the office as she left home for foot recovery at that time). I know you were the person behind the scenes of my tour, which was great and we greatly enjoyed. I want to sincerely thank you for what you have done for us.
Hi Eva,
We had a wonderful trip!
I enjoyed all the attractions, but I believe the highlights were the Panda Reserve, the Terra Cotta Warriors, and the Great Dam. Our most outstanding tour guide was Isabelle in Changdu. She was down to earth. Didn't rush us. Made us feel comfortable and didn't act like a guide. Eileen in Xian was also outstanding. She had the same qualities. The hotels and meals were wonderful. They were all centrally located and very clean.
I would recommend China Highlights to my friends.
Thank you!
Hi Candy,
Thank you for such a wonderful holiday, it was great to be able to put together our own itinerary and maintain flexibility . All of our escorts and tours were professional, fun and very informative about their cities; cultures, tourist areas, entertainment and dining and went out of their way to make our vacation a great one!
I will not forget your company and I have already recommended you for a friend. Please feel free to use the above as a testimonial for your website etc.

Hi Carol,
My wife and I had a very good trip. We generally were happy. Unfortunately, the eclipse at Haining was cloudy, but was still wonderful to see, and how dark it got. I will not forget it soon. Clouds may happen anywhere.
Your tour guides were mostly quite good. Especially Jay in Beijing, and Monica in Xi'an. They really explained so much for us, and helped us to know where to go after tour and nightly events. For me, Jay was the most personable. She even got us a small gift after knowing we recently married. And Monica took us to a Xi'an jade dealer upon my request, where we bought a pair of large jade lions, which will be shipped to us in California. We are looking forward to receiving them soon.
David in Chongqing, and Helen in Yichang were good on the day tours. Wendy in Shanghai and David in Hangzhou were also nice. David from Hangzhou was with us at eclipse.
I will get together some photos, but I did not take any of the eclipse itself, since it was not clear, and I was not prepared to photograph that, requiring more equipment.
Probably most memorable attraction for me was the Forbidden City, as it is so large, and takes in so many buildings of splendor.
All the hotels were good. They were cleaner than many in the USA.
Foods were mostly fine. I enjoyed the different tastes. One or two days I felt a reaction to something, but it passed. We stayed away from sink water, and only drank from the bottles.
I would recommend China Highlights to others; it was very thorough in touring. However, a tour such as this has to be for people who can be actively moving every day. That was fine with us, but perhaps not for every vacation. Some vacations, one may wish to relax more.
The Yangtze river cruise was also most memorable, with great scenery and the dam. We made some friends on the boat.
We found people on streets to generally be helpful and friendly. I think they are also curious about visitors. As visitors, it is difficult at first to travel in China alone due to the language. We first did this in Shanghai, and was fine, took the metro, but had to figure out our way after not being able to talk to many people. That was still good.
You may include me as a reference, but just use my e-mail, thank you.
I would be glad to consider China Highlights again, if we decide to go to China.
And thank you, Carol, for your assistance. It helped us so when we got to China, everything was taken care of. You worked hard, and we appreciated it, especially to arrange the eclipse so well.
Sincerely,
Stanton
