Dear Eva,
First of all thanks for this beautiful trip in China for my wife, daughter, her boyfriend and myself. Answers to your questions:
Sights: Visiting Lhasa was the most memorable attraction, but the cruise in the evening on the lake in Guilin was also perfect
Guides: Lois in Guilin was real outstanding. His attitude to inform about everything, not only culture but also the way of live, He was very attend for everything. Safety, food, drinks.
Hotels and meals: All the hotels were very good. The Hyatt in Beijing was perfect;
We will definitely recommend your company to friends or colleagues.
Greatings
Willy
Dear Eva,
Thank you for our wonderful time in China. I listened to a number of your competition's guides talking with their groups and China Highlights was the best of all. A pair of Americans who overheard our guide speaking with us, came over and asked for the name of your company saying their guide could barely speak English.
Attractions: The Museum in Xian nwas the best.
Guides: Chris in Xian was the best. Her personality is wonderful. Her English sounds great to the American ear. She seemed to be the most knowledgeable of the guides, not just about China, but about the World in general. She doesn't lecture, she speaks in a conversational tone of voice and I think I learned more from her than any of the other guides. However, all the guides were more than satisfactory. I have no complaints about any of your guides.
Hotels and meals: The Xian Prince International was by far the most exceptional hotel we stayed in. The Guangzhou Hotel in Beijing was satisfactory.
We will abosutely recommend your company to others.
Hello Morgen
Thank you for your note following our return from China. Sorry for the delay in replying. Firstly, whatever other comments I want to make, I must thank you for all your help in arranging every detail of a fabulous holiday. We had a wonderful time, and every aspect of our holiday worked smoothly and efficiently. We would have no hesitation in recommending China Highlights, and you personally, to any of our friends who might contemplate a visit to China (and there may be some when I tell them what a good time we had!)
Answers to your questions:
Best thing about the trip - I think the huge variety of places that we visited, every one of which was so interesting.
Hotels-they were both superb
Suggestions:We enjoyed the Muslim quarter very much, and also the"Ancient-styled Folk House at No 144 of Bei-Yuan-Men, Xi'an", which we found once our guide had left us, and visited on our own - well worth including in any tour of Xi'an. We also went to the Peking Opera as well as the KungFu show (I thought we had asked for this to be included, but possibly it never quite made it into the final itinerary)
Overall, we were impressed with the attention to detail on all aspects of our trip, and the informative and caring services of most of the guides and drivers. The standard of accommodation was uniformly high, and everything worked "like clockwork" as we say in England!
Dear Morgan, Firstly thank YOU for all your excellent bookings for our tour they were first class. Answers to your questionnaire Sight: Great Wall in Beijing and Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian were the best. Guide: All were excellent ,their English was very good. Karen in Beijing was a great help on arrival at the Marco Polo/Mecure who wanted Vouchers she managed to sort that out for us.All three had great knowledge of Chinese history. Hote:Shangri-La in Xian fantastic. Thank you again Mr Michael Bonney & Mrs Sonia Bonney
Hi Karen, The China trip was quite good. We enjoyed trips to the great wall, Terra Cotta Warriors, Li River cruise and biking in Yangshuo. I think the last two are most memorable for our family. The best tour guide is Rebecca of Guilin and Yangshuo. Jeffery in Shanghai is close second. Jeffery is more experienced. Rebecca is more personable and she really know how to get kids involved and interested. Rebecca also went extra miles to find kids bike for my younger son. Unfortunately, it did not work. We were still able to bike in Yangshuo because Rebecca found a guide to ride a tandem with my wife while I took my son. In comparison to this good experience, we had to give up biking on the City Wall of Xi'an which would have been a highlight of the tour also. The hotels are generally good. The kids like the Paradiso hotel of Yangshuo the best. The best meal is Peking roasted duck. We were surprised by the good quality of it. You can only get this quality in Beijing. The one in Los Angeles is far worse even if the name of the restaurant is the same. The other food everyone should really try to have is Guilin rice noodle. We can fully understand why folks from Guilin always miss their rice noodle back home. I think I do not have to advertise for the great wall and Terra Cotta warriors. They are too famous for anyone to omit. The Li River cruise is a must for people going to Guilin. Actually, Guilin and Yangshuo are the places we would consider visiting again in the future. Biking in Yangshuo is very enjoyable especially for kids. We regretted that we did not have enough time to spend in Shanghai museum. The self guided audio tour is very good. The whole family enjoyed it and learned a lot from it. The quality of shows in China is amazingly good. The KungFu show in Beijing, acrobat show in Shanghai and Tang Dynasty dance and music in Xi'an are all very good and worth going. We think the Impression of Liusanje is over-rated. Admittedly, there are some novelty in using river as a stage. We had no choice but to travel during the summer vacation. I would recommend tourists to avoid this time to travel to China. It is hot and humid. It is also high season for Chinese to travel. You would encounter many big Chinese groups with guide using loud speakers. The volume is so high that it would blast your ear drums when they pass by. You would not enjoy pushing and shoving within sea of people just to get a glimpse of what you are supposed to see. We would recommend China Highlights to anyone who is planning a trip to China. There are many cheaper options you can find in the market. But, you have to prepare to sacrifice the quality. We have heard of many horror stories about traveling to China from friends and relatives before our trip. Our parents strongly advised against traveling to China before we went. The experience with China Highlights proved them wrong. Chenduen
Dear Elaine, I am writing to thank you and your colleagues at China Highlights, for providing my father and I with such excellent service in China. Every tour guide tried his/her best to meet our requirements, and every transfer went very smoothly. I will obviously be recommending China Highlights to all of my friends and look forward to travelling with you again. Many thanks
Dear Cheryl, let me first express my regret that we haven't met while we were in Guilin. I really would have liked to thank You personally for the excellent organization of our trip. My job has brought me in the last 3 1/2 years 15 times to China with stays from 5 days to 18 days and all I had seen were airports, offices, hotels and factories. So I told myself that this should not continue like this and I started to plan a holiday together with my lady in order to see those places where professional life would never bring me: isn't it a shame to have benn so often in Your country without ever having seen the Great Wall, the Forbidden Palace, the Three Gorges etc.etc.? And here enters Your organization in the game: I had asked my people in Shanghai to recommend me the best local organization in this field and they pointed out CITS. That's how I got in contact with You. A perfect, punctual and failure-less organization of the complete trip. Really splendid. Everything worked like the famous "Swiss clock". We have seen beautiful and mystic places which will stick in our memory for ever.If it is so well organized China becomes even for the unexperienced, timid and anxious traveller an extremely easy holiday-country. I have seen this with my lady: well, while travelling she trusts me but just to a certain extent, but I have found her calm and relaxed during all the journey and this certainly was due to the excellent organization and care which has given her trust and confidence. I have found all Your personnel well prepared with a surprisingly good knowledge of the English language and very dedicated. Nevertheless I would like to mention especially Sissi in Guilin and the trainee (Vee?) who have taken care of us with great dedication and warmth as if we were 2 babies. Please give my special regards and thanks to them. My best regards Wolfhart Schmitz-Meimbresse
Dear Karen, We had a wonderful time on our China trip with many memories. It is hard to pick the most memorable attraction but the natural beauty of Tiger Leaping Gorge was breathtaking. Visiting the hutong in Beijing and seeing the life of a family in a neighborhood was also something we will always remember. All of our tour guides were good. The most outstanding one was Janice in Lijiang because she enjoyed people and enjoyed showing us what she loved. She enjoyed her job and she listened to what we wanted to do to personalize our experience. She allowed us to see the "real" China not the tour group China. The last night she took us to a neighborhood restaurant that she goes to and again it was a real experience. There were other guides who were very close to Janice in their hospitality and skills-Java,Cindy,Linda, and Sissy. The hotels were up to standard. Our favorite was the one in Lijiang with its beautiful courtyard. The majority of meals were delicious and the tour guides took great care to order foods we liked. I would prefer restaurants that were not associated with trying to sell us something afterwards. Memorable meals were the hotpot with Java in Chendu and the restaurant in Kunming that Linda took us to that served a variety of mushrooms. When Linda realized we liked mushrooms she was quick to please us by taking us to this restaurant. These last two mentioned restaurants were ones that we paid for because they were dinner. We would recommend China Highlights most highly to friends and colleagues because your company and guides present China in a way that allowed us to have a "taste" of the Chinese culture in a personalized way. Traveling was made easier by your attention to detail. I realize there was so much to see in 21 days, but at times I felt we needed some quiet time to relax. The Yangtze River Cruise did offer some of that. We enjoyed the ethnic show in Kunming that Linda took us to-very well done with beautiful dancing and music. We also enjoyed the Naxi Symphony in Lijiang as well as the Kung Fu Show in Beijing. A wonderful experience not to be missed was the Tea House in Chendu for its colorful artists and presentations. We also enjoyed the bicycle ride around the city wall of X'ian. Something to try is the foot massage in Guillin and acupuncture on the River Cruise Thanks again for a great experience. Joan Riggle
Dear Sunny, First of all, we want to thank you for spending so much time with us for showing us in such great detail the lovely city of Beijing during our recent visit. Your unique knowledge of China's history and your gentle and polite manners certainly made the difference during the well organized tour organized by China Highlights. We will certainly recommend the company and your name to all our friends and colleagues visiting China in the future. With our best personal regards.
Dear Angela, My son, Taylor and I have greatly enjoyed our trip to China. Thank you for your careful planning. The Guide in each city was excellent, however, in Shanghai, Shou Ning (Lemon) had the best English skill. She is an excellent guide. I would be glad to recommend China Highlights and Lemon, to my friends. From the moment we met Lemon in the airport in Shanghai, she has nonstop provided us with very interesting information about how the city works, history, culture, and the people. Of all the guides we have had on this trip, Lemon has hands, down spoken the best English! She is intelligent and inquisitive and always taking notes on English words, she is not familiar with. I expressed interest in Silk products and she took us to an excellent location where both my father and purchased some products at a good price. During our time with Lemon, we altered the schedule and she was able to work with the change as if it had never happened. The duration as the day, the timing was flawlessly coordinated. Resultantly, I rate her flexibility a high mark. Tonight we saw the acrobatic show which was quite impressive. Lemon made this recommendation to us and we really enjoyed ourselves. Lemon has a very good base as contacts within Shanghai and she uses them to the benefit as her clients. Out all as our guides we found Lemon to have the answers to more as our general questions about how life in China goes. Her experience and amazing knowledge base really added to our trip as she simply has more life experiences to draw from. In the United States, she would affectionately be referred to as a "pistol". We are pleased to have experienced Lemon as our guide and I highly recommend her to other westerners.
