Dear Michael,
We had a great time in Beijing. We are agreed that the Great Wall was the most memorable attraction in our memory. Our guide Eileen in Beijing was very good and kind. We had a wonderful time with her. All the meals were ok. We prefer the lunch near the Great wall area, nice atmosphere
I will definitely recommend China Highlights to my relatives and friends. However, we missed the Acrobats show as our children got too tired by the end of the tour. I would recommend other travelers to book the Acrobat shows in the evening.
Thanks again.
Allison
Hi Eva,
I apologize for the delay in response to your e-mail. We had a very good time on this trip and hope to visit China again soon. We'll definately give your company a call the next time we head out.
The Great Wall was the most attractive place we visited. Our tour guide Vivian Fu in Beijing was great. She understood our questions very well and was always very enthusiastic. Very friendly and always seemed eager to talk to us, our questions were always answered completely and with interesting tid bits.
The hotels and meals were great too. We preferred our hotel in suzhou the most for it's location. It is a nice hotel, fairly close to food and we felt safer. In Shanghai, it was somewhat a long walk to the Bund but we were in an area where everything closed around 6 or 7. In Beijing, beggars were waiting near the hotel and they would follow us for blocks and sometimes even trying to pull your arm for you to stop.
All in all, we were very impressed at the amount of planning that must have been required for this tour. Besides, there is a government operated tea house across the street from the Temple of Heaven in Beijing that we really enjoyed and would definately like to recommend to people.
Thanks,
Allen G
Dear Nancy,
Now we are back home I would like to say thank you and how much we enjoyed the whole experience and how pleased we were with the arrangements made by China Highlights. I would recommend that anyone considering a trip to China give serious consideration to using the services of China Highlights. A combination of good service and value for money. We particularly appreciated being met from and taken to the various trains. All of the guides and agents were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and it would be unfair to single anyone one of them out. However we would like to say a special thank you to Vivian in Guilin for going out of her way to help even after the arranged part of the tour was over.
Once again many thanks.
Best wishes
Edward and Jennifer
Hi Nancy,
I would like to say that we very much enjoyed our Yangze cruise. The meals were very good, the cabins clean and comfortable and staff friendly. I found china highlights very professional in regards to the booking and transfer guides. I highly recommend the cruise for both the scenery and a relaxing atmosphere.
Regards
Georgina
Nancy,
Just wanted to express our complete satisfaction with our tour. Our tour guide was fantastic!!!! very knowledgeable and so much fun. When we decide to visit China again ( and we will) China Highlights will be the first agency that we contact. Thank you for making our visit to your beautiful country so wonderful.
Warmest Regards,
Connie
Hi Carol,
We also enjoyed meeting you at your office in Guilin. Thank you very much for the sweet osmantheus flower sachets and the elephant rock hill book marks! We had a wonderful trip to China and would be happy to answer your questionnaire. We also attached the photo that we took of us in your office to this email. We took almost 2,000 photos in China, which we will add to our personal website, so you can view all of our photos. However, it will probably take us over a month to complete the website. It's a lot of work! We'll let you know when it is finished.
There were a lot of favorites. We both loved the cruise down the Li River, it was very peaceful and gorgeous! Our favorite show was the Acrobat Show in Shanghai. We also enjoyed the Kung Fu show in Beijing and the Impressions show in Yangshuo. I really loved the hundreds of statues of Buddha at the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. We also enjoyed observing the daily, exercises and games of local Beijing retirees at the Temple of Heaven. It was fascinating to watch people practice tai chi, caligraphy, dancing and singing. We also really enjoyed riding bikes on top of the ancient city wall in Xian. We also really enjoyed eating at local restaurants. Most of our daily lunches in local restaurants were wonderful.
We absolutely adored Laura in Beijing and Claire in Guilin. They were are two most favorite guides! Laura is very talkative, friendly and helpful. In addition to the history of China and its many attractions, she shared interesting things about Chinese culture and her own personal life. Plus, she showed an interest in American life and our personal lives. She was also very generous and went out of her way to help us. She shared snacks with us and was always there for us. She even helped us later in our trip. Claire in Guilin was also lovely. She was very kind and sweet; almost like she was our little sister. She even sang a local folk song for us which was incredible. Sheryl in Xian and Ricky in Hangzhou were also very good tour guides. Sheryl was extremely sweet and Ricky's English is perfect! Daisy in Shanghai was also excellent. We really liked all of our tour guides! There kindness, helpfulness and excellent English made our trip perfect.
We greatly prefered eating lunches in local restaurants opposed to local hotels. The restaurants had interesting decor and atmosphere, lively and entertaining local people and excellent food. The hotels were often very boring. The only other diners were fellow tourists, the decor was bland and the food wasn't as good. All of the local restaurants were interesting, exciting and had excellent food, but most of the hotel restaurants were boring with average food. We liked all of our hotels and had no problems with any of our accomodations.
Most definitely! We would absolutely recommend China Highlights! We adored almost every guide, we loved almost every restaurant, each hotel was excellent, every show was wonderful and we enjoyed nearly every activity and attraction. We would say our tour with China Highlights was 95% perfect!
We found that we prefered Beijing over Shanghai, since there are a lot of historical and cultural attractions in Beijing, whereas, Shanghai has fewer attractions and centers around shopping. So plan more time in Beijing than in Shanghai. Our favorite area overall was Guilin and Yangshuo, so extra time there would be well spent! Our favorite day was spent cruising the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo. We could have stayed several more days in that area and wished we had stayed longer in Yangshuo. Shows are expensive, so if you have to choose only one or two, don't miss the acrobats in Shanghai and be sure to see an Impressions show in either Yangshuo or Hangzhou. We didn't think the Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai was worth standing in line for, once we finally reached the top, we could hardly see anything through the smog. We thought the Pearl Tower was a major disappointment.
Hi Rebecca,
We have returned from our trip, and I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed it. Chengdu is a great city, and we had a lot of fun.
Isabella was a fantastic guide. She really went out of her way to make sure every part of our trip was perfect, including our evening plans which were not part of the itinerary. She arranged dinner plans for us and helped us to order the right thing. She also took us to the Sichuan opera, which was a real treat. We felt really comfortable and taken care of in her hands.
We have had a great experience with China Highlights, and would love to use it in the future for other China trips!
Thanks,
Eileen
Nancy,
Our vacation was very interesting. All places and attractions what we have seen we recommend to other travelers. The Yangtze Cruise is a major part of every China tour. The river is very important not only for the people in this area but also for the whole big country. It have to be seen! Another suggestion is a visit an original chinese tea house - we did it - great!
The three weeks were not enough to enjoy and discover all details in visited places. All was very interesting. For Beijing we should plan more days. Xi'an is an interesting place as well. Hangzhou should be visited for longer time.
Every guide on our tour was very professional. They were very good. The english language skills of all were excellent. We have to point that there were two outstanding guides: Vivienne (Beijing) and Peter Wang (Luoyang) - not because of longer attendance than the other guide - they were the best!
The most enjoyable hotel was Double Happiness Courtyard Hotel. It has a special flair and unique character. It fits very well to Beijing. Another hotels were comfortable and also clean. The service in all hotels wassuper. We enjoyed the meals in all restaurants. The Chinese cuisine is very, very tasty.
Thank you once again,
Bernard Antoni
Dear Karen,
It’s 01:30 her in Beijing and my wife and I have just got back from the airport and unpacked after our return from Guilin.
We had a wonderful time. Thank you so much! I’ll write a more measured thank you tomorrow, but I know that you will probably see ‘Ann’, our Guilin guide, sometime on Wednesday for a debrief on our visit and I wanted to make sure that you had this before you saw here.
The things we saw in Xi’an and Guilin were wonderful. The hotels were comfortable and all you’d expect from 4* and 5* hotels. The flights and transfers worked well. The drivers were calm, skilful and safe. The cars were comfortable and clean. We had a great time and our trip exceeded our expectations.
But, the thing that really made our trip was the guides. ‘Summer’ and ‘Ann’ were so helpful, friendly, kind, thoughtful, respectful. They had excellent English and local knowledge. They were such nice people. Ann had lots of ideas for our trip and through her we saw the wonderful show at Yangshuo. Summer had to cope with the fact that the conference I spoke at was very badly organised and she had to change plans on the day.
Ann and Summer were the most wonderful ambassadors for your company and for China. We loved them both and would be proud to think of them as our friends. You company is lucky to be able to employ such wonderful young people. They deserve the highest possible scores on your feedback forms.
Best wishes,
Tim
Michael,
sorry I have not responded earlier but we travelled for another couple of weeks after leaving Beijing and are barely home.
The service we received from your company was excellent. Our guide Laura and our driver were both very helpful and clearly did the jobs professionally and more than adequately. There were many highlights, especially the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Olympic precinct.
Our hotel was adequate but not brilliant. The food provided at your lunches was acceptable but we would have preferred some leeway in ordering at each venue rather than simply receiving pre ordered food. We appreciate that time is limited but our eating moods vary from day to day and are frequently dependant upon what we ate the night before.
I will certainly recommend your organization to anyone who asks of me how to go about arranging a China tour.
Thanks again,
Joseph
