I am very satisfied with the service that China Highlights has given me, espacially from your advisor Simon :}} We are looking forward to our trip !!!
I had three different friends who each wanted to see some of the same places, but I really didn't feel like I was doing the same things over and over again because Candy planned each trip with the information I gave her about each individual. I felt comfortable immediately because she asked good questions and then used the information to add special experiences for each of us.
We've both made it home safely. Our time in Shanghai was very full; we saw more than we expected and had a good time, too. You did a fine job arranging our trip for us. We learned and experienced so much and enjoyed ourselves as well. The trip was all that I had hoped for. Now I look forward to processing the experiences and trying to record my reactions. Thank you for helping this trip to happen.
Neil would say the Great Wall was the most memorable attraction and I think I would too. It is such an icon, it was an absolute thrill! PS. the toboggan ride down from the wall was great too. There were certainly other highlights that were stunning and surprising, though the grottoes at Dazu (the 2 hr. drive there and back were worth it); the Giant Buddha at Leshan the Lama Temple, the Sanxingdoi Museum in Chengdu, the Stone Forest, the Forbidden City, the old town in both Hangzhou and Lijiang if they can be called attractions. Some of our favourite moments were the 3 visits we made into the homes of local people - the 2 scheduled – one in the Hutong and one with the widow in Yangshou and the 3rd - the impromptu visit the woman in the village at Longshen Rice Terraces (thanks to LeLe). Some of the other truly memorable highlights were the interactions with the locals that happened while we were on our own in the evenings, those were great fun! The one attraction I would eliminate would be the Mural in the Baisha Village - but we had a great lunch there and enjoyed seeing the village so I guess it was OK.
Thank you for organizing the tour for us. We enjoyed the tour very much. The most memorable attraction are de Great Wall, is an amazing place. The Silk Market in Beijing impressed us most during our free time. In Xi'an aou guide provide a lot of information about places to visit in our free time. Beijing is a beatifull city, with some places with history, is more than we expected. Of course, we recommend your company for everything.
I have booked a tour with China Highlights. I wanted to to thank one of your colleagues for their very prompt response in answering my questions. Thank you.
In general, the trip was good. Guide in Huangshan, April, was very good as well as friendly and helpful. Guide in Hangzhou was also very good, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable.
What makes Candy so special is that she quickly worked to develop a personal relationship with me so that she could understand our travel preferences and interests in visiting China. She identified some truly unique hotels, and a diverse itinerary. I felt I came to know Candy through our email contacts, and her energy and enthusiasm about our trip and her country made us that more excited about visiting China. Given the time of her email communications to me, I could see that she sometimes put in long hours, and she was always quick to reply to any question I may have. When my mother-in-law became ill and died, Candy expressed sympathy and was so helpful in giving us options regarding the non-refundable portion of our trip costs to maximize our interests in rebooking our trip in the future.
This part of the great wall has been renovated but there is also parts that are still original, which you can also climb. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes and sneakers. There's alot of steps to climb! You can go as far as you want. Just discuss with your guide on the day. I'm glad I was able to go because there were not many people and it felt like I had it all to myself.
We also appreciated very much the excursion up the Shennang river, and also the trip to the Three Gorges dam. The transfer from the Airport at Yichan city to the cruise pier was lead in an exellent way by the guide Ginger, who showed us the hightligts of Yichan (amoung others a embroidery factory) and took us to a very good restaurant in town. All for free.
