Beijing Subway
The Beijing Subway is a rapid transit rail network that serves the urban and suburban districts of Beijing city. Presently, there are 14 subway lines in operation which are line 1, line 2, line 4, line 5, line 8 (Olympic Special Line), line 10, line 13, line 15 as well as lines for suburban areas including Batong line, Changping line, Daxing line, Fangshan line, Yizhuang line and Airport Express Line. The subway lines connects city center stops such as Tiananmen Square, Wangfujing and suburban districts of Beijing city.
By paying the ticket fare of RMB 2 Yuan, passengers can transfer among almost all subway lines regardless the distance. The Airport Express Line is the only line of the Beijing Subway that not to apply the city network's RMB2 fare system for unlimited mileage. One way fare for airport express line costs RMB 25 Yuan.
Beijing Subway Line 1
Beijing Subway Line 1 is a straight east-west line underneath Chang'an Avenue which extends from Sihuidong in the east to Pingguoyuan in the west. Line 1 connects major commercial centers Xidan, Wangfujing, Dongdan and the Beijing CBD. It is colored standard red.

Beijing Subway Line 2
Beijing Subway Line 2 is colored navy blue which is a rectangular loop line. It has a total length of 23.1km with 18 stops including all areas adjacent to the 2nd Ring Road as well as Chongwenmen East Street, Qianmen East Street, Qianmen West Street, Xuanwumen East Street and Xuanwumen West Street, as well as the Beijing Railway Station.

Beijing Subway Line 4
Beijing Subway line 4 is colored Blue green. It is a mainly north-south line running west of city centre with stops at the Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan (Old Summer Palace), Tsinghua and Peking Universities, Zhongguancun Technology Park, National Library, Beijing Zoo, Beijing South Railway Station and some commercial areas, like Xizhimen, Xinjiekou, Xidan and Xuanwumen.

Beijing Subway Line 5
Beijing Subway Line 5 is the first north-south Subway line just east of the city centre and is colored purple. Line 5 has a total length of 27.6 km passing through the Temple of Heaven and Lama Temple. It links up with Subway Lines 1, 2, 10 and 13.

Beijing Subway Line 8
Line 8 (Phase I), also known as the Olympic Special Line, was built specifically for the 2008 Olympic Games. Beijing Subway line 8 is colored standard Green and has 4 stations only, running from the South Gate of the Forest Park to Beitucheng, passing the Olympic Park, and Olympic Sports Center Stadium.

Beijing Subway Line 10
Line 10 is colored light blue. It is an inverted L-shaped line running to the north and east of the city. Half of the line (PhaseⅠ) from Bagou to Jinsong has been in operation since July 19, 2008. It has a length of 24.68 km with 22 stations. The other half of the loop, in the south and west, is now under construction and planned to be fully completed by September 30, 2013.

Airport Express
The Airport Express of the Beijing Subway is a light rail line that connects the Beijing Capital International Airport with Beijing’s city center. The Airport Express runs 28.1 kilometres with only 4 stops of Dongzhimen, Sanyuanqiao, Terminal 3 and Terminal 2. Riders can transfer to Lines 2 and 13 at Dongzhimen and to Line 10 at Sanyuanqiao. The Airport Line's color is magnolia.
Fare
It costs RMB25 one way. The Airport Express is the only line of the Beijing Subway that not to apply the city network's RMB2 fare system for unlimited mileage.

Service intervals are 15 minutes to start with. A trip from Terminal 3 to Dongzhimen takes 16 minutes or 25 minutes from Terminal 2. The Airport Express is faster than airport shuttle buses (¥16) and cheaper than taxi.
Changping Line
The Changping Line of the Beijing Subway is 21.24km in length with 7 stations, running north from the Xi'erqi station on to suburban Nanshao, Changping District.
