Yunju Temple

Yunju TempleYunju Temple lies at the foot of Mount Baidai, Fangshan District in the southwestern suburbs of Beijing, 70 kilometers from downtown. The temple was built in the late Sui (581-618) and early Tang (618-907) dynasties to store Buddhist scriptures.

With a history of over 1000 years, Yunju Temple boasts an extensive library with an important collection of Buddhist Texts. It is particularly famous for its 14,278 stone slabs carved with the Buddhist scriptures which is the largest collection of stone-carved Tripitaka in China. They are now housed in nine caves on Shijing Mountain.
